here comes Amrita..

Hello friends at BUF,

I am Amrita, your new fellow blogger here on this space. I live in New Jersey and study at a college in New York City. I'm 20 and interested in English literature, more than my major which is computer science.

Usually, I can talk at length about myself, but somehow this introduction post is something awkward to write. Probably because I've been surrounded a lot by other unwanted writing assignments like emailing professors or writing cover letters for the internships I want.

My birthdate is May 21 (Gemini) and my marriage anniversary is Nov 19. I love reading and I can remember favorite songs, quotes, dialogues etc. My college is very interesting because I had to take a variety of classes like Psychology, Philosophy, Contemporary History, Art of Drama etc. Except for these classes, college is a bore. lol.

I talk to my parents in India in about two days so you can tell how much a parents' daughter I am. You will know more about me through my posts here.

Last but not the least (Oh I so hate that cliche, but continuing) I am here on BUF because AmitL invited me to join this amazing new group of people who express themselves with words. Thanks Ishi for this opportunity to blog at BUF. I am looking forward to making a lot of good friends here. I'm keeping me real name as my user name here because I want to "keep it real", New York style. :)
I also blog as Red Soul.

Current topic: My favorite time of the day

Choosing topics like this and writing about them is a very nice idea of removing the writers block. Let me see how my favorite time of the day as I write this post.

I guess it has to be the night (time of the day?). Yes, the time when I come home after a long day in the city and in college, is my favorite time. Around 11pm I come home and then there is dinner time and TV time! I believe I am a good eater, in a sense that I like to savour the flavour with each bite..

This time is very relaxing and refreshing because I get to watch my favorite TV sitcoms - Sex and the City, Fraiser, Will and Grace, Celebrity Apprentice, Lipstick Jungle, Comedy Central, just to name a few ;) .. This time is my own time, I get to paint my world with my colors, my favorite music or my thoughts - through the things I can do at my comfy little home.. I blog in this time, summing up the happenings of the day, I call home in India and speak to parents..

I love the peace of the night, and I study better somehow in that time. lol, I hope "night" can be counted as a "time of the day".

An Intro (A)muse from AmitL of amitsmusings

Hey,wow! Finally,I got an invite from BUF. (My reaction on receiving the email)I've been reading posts, commenting on posts I enjoyed(Read: All ) ,and, thoroughly enjoying the lively 'atmosphere' which runs all round, from the very first day that I came here. And, whew! Just at the right time- when comments are being reserved for ‘members only’.(Oh, my, we’re exclusive- I must boast, err, post about this on my regular blog).

From amongst the members of BUF, I’m already a regular ‘friend’ly visitor to Keshi’s blog.(In fact, I got the link from her blog, and, asked her to put in a good word for me(Influence in high-up places always helps, na?), to get me a quick membership).

Then, there’s others amongst you all -Wacko, Loon Gal, Ishita, et al, whose blogs I’ve been visiting as well, on my eternal bloyage(Blog Voyage) of discovery . So, let me just say, ladies and gentlemen(Should I say gals and guys, I wonder?*Muses*), I’m thrilled to be here.

Now, since this is an intro post, here goes a CV-like(albeit, brief-without-being-boring, I hope) description(comments welcome):

Date of Birth: 23rd Feb. (Piscean)
Place of Birth: Baroda, Gujarat (But, not a Gujju)

-First job: Blue Star Ltd, Baroda
-Second job: Drake & Scull, Dubai(Came here in 2002)

- Avid writer (I used to write to around 30-40 mags and papers before coming to Dubai, now, it’s relatively low-key.), on most topics except politics. Also love entering contests, especially caption contests and quizzes

- I like good music, be it Hindi or English,

- I’m an avid blogger- writing wise and reading wise

- I’m more of a good listener than a good talker (You wouldn’t guess it from my blog posts/comments, but, ask any of the Dubai bloggers- I’m known to write a longer post on my observations during a DBM than I actually participated in the tete-a-tetes )

- Typical Piscean- dreamy, easygoing, happy to ‘be there’ but not necessarily in the limelight, versatile, usually (a)musing, …..

- Friendly, optimistic, have and love a good sense of humour, etc etc

- Blank Blank.. (Can’t reveal all facets in an intro post –grin grin)

(BTW, I just found out-the full form of Avid is Advancement Via Individual Determination. LOL. I use it just to indicate keen interest and enthusiasm)

- My First blog: http://amitsmusings.rediffblogs.com/
- I Switched over recently to: http://amitsmusings.blogspot.com/

Favourite quote: If you walk with your face towards the sun, your shadow will fall behind you. (Heard this on Radio Australia, in college days).

Current topic: How has blogging changed your life?

I wrote my first post on rediffblogs four years ago. In 2003, I had been missing my hobby of writing to magazines and papers, ever since I had arrived in Dubai, since either mags and papers here were(are) double or more of their price in India, or, they were not available. Suddenly, one day, I saw a link in rediff, titled’ blog’, and, out of curiosity, I clicked it, and went to their section called ‘sizzling blogs’.

One thing(Read’ click’ ) led to another and very soon, I was poring over posts, nee, articles I should say, that I never imagined existed- people were writing about everything their hearts desired, from their experiences in college, at work to their experiences dissecting people in the course of their medical studies, to their experiences in showers- and, it convinced me to try my hand at blogging. And, there’s been no looking back, so to speak. How has it changed my life?

Well, for one, making so many friends from all over our great country and, from around the world, first via comments and other blogs, then, interacting via emails and messengers.

Sharing thoughts and feelings- be it in happiness or sadness, it’s great to know that ‘someones’ there’, besides family and regular friends circle)- in fact, it’s easier to share feelings on blogs and with blog pals, sometimes.

It’s helped me become more extroverted(As I said, I’m still a better listener than a talker)

It’s kept me in touch with the subject I love- English, and heaven knows, I needed that, looking at the megamix of languages out here, which always batters my English.

Last but not the least, blogging makes me look forward to each day, in a way- waiting to log on, waiting to blog-surf, waiting to see who’s commented, waiting to see who’s written what(About whom and where, sometimes. Grin).

So, here’s wishing the WWW and blogworld a long and happy life. Cheers.

Let me entertain you - Silvara!

Hi y'all!

For someone who usually has a lot to say, writing something about myself has got me stumped. What can I say really?

It's hard to capture me in a nutshell, but a nut is definitely what I am :P I am a 24 year old North Indian girl...err...woman from Melbourne, Australia. Can speak Hindi but have been told various times I speak tapori Hindi. I think I was a gangster in a former life. I am the eldest of three (a younger sis and brother) which is usually a curse because I end up having to fight for everything and they get away with it without doing anything. Hmph.

I've been blogging for just over a year now and it has definitely has been an eye opener. I have met so many wonderful people and learnt a lot about myself in the process. Blogging rocks! *does a happy dance*

I'm short and curvy but I don't mind too much because it lets me indulge in a guilty pleasure - shopping! I love fashion and probably spend much more than I should. Well...my shopping habits aren't limited to shoes. More like shoes and bags. And clothes. Actually, pretty much anything that catches my eye. Usually shiny things which has resulted in a large jewellery collection. I have a big earrings fetish too.

I get excited by things easily, which people usually translate into me having a short attention span. I have to sorta agree because my university career has been everything from engineer to scientist to optometry to business consultant. Despite that, I have recently graduated and am due to start in my first job in the corporate world next year. Woohoo! I think officewear is hot and I like the way I look in a suit :P (Probably the only reason I got into the job :P)

I am soon to be married to the guy of my dreams Evan, who is despite my grumblings is the light of my life. How he puts up with me I can never figure out but I like to think I have him wrapped around my little finger :P. He is a Christian Sri-Lankan and I'm a Hindu Indian so I can tell you life will always be interesting.

I am total coffee addict and being in a city where cafes line the streets means I am very hypo. Add a intense, everlasting love for chocolate into the mix and I'll be bouncing off the walls. I love to read, always on the look out for good books and LOVE music. All types, but mainly R&B/hip hop. LOVE Hindi music too and could probably kick your ass in antakshri if I could remember remember the lyrics to half the songs :P

A typical Picses I am very loyal to my friends and tend to get lost in my dreams. I'm not very practical which is why Evs is my rock on earth while I float away in the clouds. I get emotional easily, cry at the drop of a hat but when I get mad or upset I am an expert at giving you the silent treatment.

This is probably just a snapshot or a piece of the puzzle. I could also tell you how I always lose things so while I am here you might discover a new piece or an old photo that may show you the whole me.

And that's all folks!

Voila *wacko* tis!!

holla mates!

Finally, I do get a chance to become a part of this wonderful blog 'BUF'. I have been wondering what it takes to attract people towards one's blog, but unfortunately cudnt get a hint till now [:P]. I found this blog where i've instantly become friends with a lot of people hanging round here without even joining it. Well, this not being the sole reason for me joinin BUF, I actually realized that it is very creative and innovative to have a group of friends converging together to share what they feel like and simultaneously get to know what others feel. [:)]

Not deviating from my aim, crisp and short it will be! [:D]

As some of the Buffers here already know me by 'wacko', i would rather prefer being called as Anshuman. Yeah, thats my name! I dont actually know what 'anshuman' means but I defnitely have a hint of what 'wacko' means [:P].

As the name suggests, I am a bit weird and difficult to understand on the first hand. But, once i get hold of you(or vice-versa), I bet there aint any damn thing in this world that could get us part(till we die..is lame :P). I am currently pursuing my BTECH engineering from a not-so-cool college(Dehradun Institute of Technology) situated in the Doon valley of Uttarakhand, India. Though the college is not cool, the serene environment and the calm ambience there is definitely enchanting. Anyways, I love making friends(got half a million f em :P). I like people who are full of sarcasm, should possess a great sense of humour, trendy and witty not to mention! Some of my friends think I carry unwanted attitude with me, but on the contrary, I think 'attitude' is the only thing i cherish having in me. (yeah yeah i can very well differentiate between having a good and having a bad attitude).I really dont care much of what people presume or think about me! I dont give a damn.Matter of fact, I would really like to tell ya that some of the best friends ive ever had are ONLINE. I am what I really am. I am allergic to people who really dont know how to carry themselves or people who flaunt unnecessarily.

I have this ever-eluding dream of going abroad and settling there(man..i hv this charm for blonde's :D). Not to mention, am working hard to get a goooood GRE score..lol! Though am not the fittest hanging around, but I am a sports freak..a fanatic to b precise! (are ya guys able to catch the sarcasm filled moi?). I lauuuuuv music especially Hip-Hop and Rock...Can listen to any damn nigga(no offense ya) besides my family and friends repeatedly cursing me not to follow these semi-naked black body hulks with absolutely no sense of gentle-man dressing sense(i hope you get me)!!

I like surfing as in anything which i find worth lookin upon. My friends keep asking me to tell'em some of the sites to surf, but unfortunately i can only manage to find a way out of their questions. In short, I really dont surf anything meaningful :D. I like fidgeting with my laptop, playin games(Counter Strike yeahhhh) and fooling around online! And yeah, I am not at all political by any chance. :D

I am a social animal, a shopoholic, and am freakin insane. I like adventures and would not mind turning raunchy some or the other times! :P I've been a NOMAD literally. I've lived in Surat, Calcutta, Kota and Dehradun presently, still planning to take my ass wherver life takes me to.

thats it for now i guess!
Here's a link to my alternate blog: http://wacko-da-n00b.blogspot.com/

Ya gotta holla me back if ya wanna knw about me better! ;)

\m/ peace \m/

Current Topic: Introduce/talk about your best friend

Well, to start with..I really do not have a so-called "best friend" or whatever, but yeah at this time of my life, I would really like to mention about a very special friend of mine. She is Priyanka aka Pinka(it'll be P frm now on).

God knows what bestowed upon me, but unfortunately am not in touch with her anymore. So, all I have to share with you guys are just plain memories gathered in a span of some 3 to 4 years. And believe me or not, I met her online. Now looking at the very ironical fact of this particular phase of my life, the day I met her, she suddenly started acting weird and apart from a few swearings online, we havent been the same ever since that goddamned day! :x :x. We've never talked the way we used to. I miss talking to her not to mention! I even remember taggin her my best friend on HI5 :D.

Yeah, so gathering back all my emotions back...lemme tell ya some of her characteristics. She's a cancerian and so obviously she has this fukat ka attitude with her. She has this so-called mental block in her mind. By this, she refers to being petrified of some apprehensions that she has about meeting unknown people or talking to them. She has this so-called "respected" list of guys..Man, I tell ya, she's krazy..(not to mention a biaaatch too, but anyways i like her).

We first met when I was in the middle of my holidays after my 12th ka boards. All hail to Yahoo chat rooms...She was looking for this mentor she wanted, who could guide her for IIT and other exams and i bet she couldnt find anyone better than me ;). So this is where, it all began.

In the beginning, as most of the girls do hv security issues, so did she. She was afraid of trusting me and had a big doubt of even lettin me know her name. But anyways, since am not the usual hacker or whatever, I finally managed to make her understand that am humane enough to talk to. :D

As years passed by, we managed to keep in touch through mails incase of calamities and the usual chatting when it was perfectly normal. I still remember my parents and my sisters scolding me like anything for chatting with a person completely unknown. But, it seemed really hard to make em understand how well we both bonded all these years. I literally knew everything about her. I just hope she did too :). We had this rigorous sessions of sarcasm filled statements aimed right at each other. There were these long heated talks between us which ultimately i had to give up cuz of her attitude and shit. We had this so-called online dates where we used to fix up a time and then consequently not show up most of the times :P.

Then, one day I finally convinced her to meet me and get her fear away of not meeting unknown people. We did meet. I really enjoyed being with her. We parted nicely. It was just that she was in a hurry and was a bit tired. Ever since, we just met online a few times and things hvnt been bitter enough ever before. I told her what i felt and that was it.

I can perhaps write a whole book out of it, as I sincerely loved every moment I spent with her online. I dont actually know what happened(just in case ya ask me) between both of us. I leave it to ya guys to figure out and just lemme know the possible reason for it.

Anyways, at least for some part of my life, I considered her my best friend. I really dont know how she felt about it, cuz whenever i managed to ask her about it, she used to get away by telling she aint emotional and stuff....

Seeing the length of my post, I am scared already of the admin people kickin my butt, so I better finish it off.

Looking forward to knowing all f ya wonderful people.
adieu!!

Rathna from deep White Forest...:)

I am glad that I have been invited to this forum of between friends!

Well, well, well…My best friend Seema has already given my warm intro generously!

Yes this is about me :) I am honored to have a friend like her who is so supportive and encouraging! Yes!
Seema

I am yet to know myself very well ...I will give a brief intro of myself as far as I know!

I was once upon a time studious gal until 12th std. But after that I drastically changed and leaned upon my extra curricula’s like singing, playing chess and theatre.

Though I take sometime to let a person into my world, I like making new friends and discover their nature completely. I have had the best times learning and discovering new things with my friends which is really unforgettable.

I love butterflies. May be bcoz they are colorful and beautiful! And thats my cute smile :D

Hmmm..mujhe bohot bohot bohot bohot gussa aata hain…I easily get angry. And this anger is devastating most of the times. Well none of them who know me and who just know me as a friend agree to this. There is a reason for that. I don’t get angry 90% of the times…the 10% of the times when I get angry, it’s devastating!

I play chess weirdly! I cannot tolerate when my opponent takes my Queen!
I feel as though he/she has taken away “ME” and imprisoned. I feel I want to spoil the game or resign from it though it’s not the end of the game!

There is always a combat between illusion and illumination in my mind....Whenever, I flow in the flow of illusions....my other side of the mind illuminates me with its light ...and tells me to do what is right!

So to sum it up ...I am a combat btn…illusions and illumination! (that’s also my name in Orkut:) )

And to talk about current topic, Seema is my best friend for 2 n half years now. Yes the very same Jaan ki sweetheart….. For what she considers me in her life…whatever I say is going to be less.

She is extremely supportive and friendly. Very caring and she believes in nurturing friendships tenderly which I like the most in her. She is also my best critic. But she has a very nice way of putting things across. I hardly care about how I look, what I wear. Seema is someone who suggests things that can make me a better person!

I am always inspired by her boldness and confidence she carries along!

Here I am, this is me (Sam)

About Me:

Libran

or may be a Scorp??

You see being a cusp fella is tough!! But then that's what makes me different, a bunch of contradictions and totally, absolutely confused...... confused sam.

Now, I have to introduce myself. This isn't an easy task, but let me try.

Hmmm.... now this is tough!! One can ramble on in an eclectic manner and say stuff that may be hard to decipher for the not so intellectual minded individual, else one can choose to be simple in approach.... I think I'll choose the later, for it is the simplest of things that can create the greatest of impacts!! Here goes:

I am a simple fellow, who loves to be the friendly soul around. Show me some good chocolate and music, and you couldn't have found a better way to bribe me. The rest u can figure out..........

On second thoughts, I'm an absolute nutter. Totally confused, lazy and crazy about good music. If you are around me, anything can happen.... good or bad, no guarantees! LOL!!
For the rest.... hey I am still around....... let's talk!! Cheerio!!

Personal Trivia:

  • I am Bong, but not the typical one..... and definitely not into fish and rice.
  • Crazy about music, I play the guitar and sing.
  • Though I appear to be very playful, I'm very, very serious minded, and am particular about etiquette.
  • Am a confirmed foodaholic, orkutaholic and now a blogaholic.... lol.....
  • I love to analyze people and dig into their thoughts (only if they are interesting enough!!) and I get amazing results.... and earn friends for keep!! :)
  • My friends consider me to be a smooth talker, mischievous, flirt, err..... and a few other stuff which should have made me proud... but then I never believe it!! Dunno why!!
  • Am very skeptical, and believe in something only after I have verified it's worth personally.
  • And I'm getting royally bugged just writing about me.... You may want to check out the post "BIG Quirky me" where I had listed out similar stuff..... and about 35 of those!!

Confused Gyaan :

" If you cannot present something in a single and simple sentence, that thing is either of profound significance..... else utter nonsense..... the choice to believe is yours!!"

Current Topic: My Favourite Childhood Memory

For a person who has spent his childhood travelling from Patna to Mumbai to Jaipur and then finally to Kolkata, I have a big treasure trove to choose from and I am spoilt for options. So I think I'll give you all a bunch..... enjoy!!

The first thing I remember from my childhood is trying to walk on the wall!! Surprised?? Well, there was this ad where they did just that, and I was determined to do so...... I still remember trying to walk.... while my feet did their duty well, my torso refused to defy gravity...... guess my first shattered dream.............

Was a foodie right since my childhood and simply loved the kitchen. Back in Patna, mum would set me up with some utensils allow me to create a racket in there while she would get busy around. And I would wait for the moment she leaves the kitchen to look into the forbidden areas.... So often I would end up being caught with a lot of those grains around me, which I would happily pick around :), and mum in an equally opposite frame of mind give me a whack!! Wonder why she never loved picking those grains and tasting them as it is?? Now, there was this one time, this would be warrior decides to enter the kitchen without permission. The coast was clear..... fast steps take the warrior close to the fascinated spot of the day.... and then SHEEEEEEEEEEEEEESH!! The whistle of the pressure cooker goes off...... Surprised by this sudden and never heard of intrusion, the warrior scrambles to safety outside the domains of the now strange territory called kitchen....... That was the day.... from then till today, the warrior is still scared of that thing..... much as the Gauls were afraid of the sky falling on their head. Now don't you go and share this with anyone else!! Please................ promise me you won't!! :P

And then there was Ronita......... not much memory of her though except the teacher always trying to separate the two chatterboxes and failing gloriously!!! And then a complaint to my mum..... my first ever.... so you see I was influenced by the girl factor since I was about 3.... :D

Wish I could write on and on, but time doesn't permit me the freedom. So pull things to a stop...... There was this cranky old guy whose trees we would climb for some fruit (don't remember the name), then "kala kutta" a black dog who managed to terrorise us kid successfully when we were in Jaipur, and my sister once getting terrified of it just by hearing about it (I admit spicing it up a bit, wanted her out of my hair... had some mischief planned)... and shouting on the top of her voice "lala kutta"... she was just three............ or the............ enough!! no more........ lol..... so many years, so little space, so few words.....

I'll sign off here.........

Cheerio

Ergo Sum... (Aakash)

Flashback! Delhi, sometime in February circa 2006. Anxious faces, blue blazers, crisp white shirts, and a multitude of multihued ties. In front of a room across a sunlit corridor, one man awaits his turn. A signalling nod asks him to proceed. And then, Knock knock!

Good morning sirs.

Good morning, please take a
seat.

Thank you sir!

So Vyom, tell us something about yourself.

And here the sound fades away… and so does the light.

Cut to present. A flickering computer screen (not yet LCD), a black keyboard, a blog awaiting a long due introduction and fidgety fingers unsure of what keys to hit.

In the background the age old soundtrack of one of the vintage VIP ads (the suitcase and not the underwear) starts playing, Kal bhi aaj bhi, aaj bhi kal bhi…

Good morning / afternoon / evening (depending on the time when you end up reading this) Ladies and Gentlemen. Let me have the pleasure of introducing myself to this camaraderie.

As you would have figured by now, I am Vyom, and I exist in this realm as Aakash (which means the same as Vyom, and happens to be my nick for friends, who haven’t started calling me names :p). Currently I work in an FMCG at one of the most over-hyped suburbs in India, Gurgaon.

I am a sensualist. I love anything that appeals to the senses; reading, writing, cuisines, coffees, music, films, exploring new places, as well as psyches of people -known or unknown… et cetera et cetera.

Rest I am still trying to figure out, I hope in this journey together you will help me fit the remaining pieces in this ever evolving jigsaw.

I started with ladies and gentlemen. I am ending this piece with, looking forward to you Friends! And this doesn’t mean that I have started considering you un-ladylike, or un-gentlemanly.

Adios Amigos!

Trivia: F.R.I.E.N.D.S. happens to be one of the Author’s favorite TV Shows.
Trivia 2: Phew!

Favorite Childhood Memory
Now this is again really tough, but i'll try.
Okay picture this. There is curfew declared in this town on the foothills of Uttaranchal, so the school closes post lunch break. Instead of returning home 3 boys, decide to scale the hill behind the school. Thus in their Bata shoes and lead-heavy school bags, they start their ascent. An hour and a half later, they are on the top, the school lies like a small picture below, while the entire town is a centre-fold of a travel magazine with the river a silver ribbon sashaying around in a gentle curve. Enraptured they look, one of them picks up a sharp stone and marks the initials of all three on a gnarled tree trunk, and just below it they lodge that wedge shaped stone. Sun slowly continues on its sink, and its almost dark when they reach home. The parents have come to know about the school getting closed early through the other children in the neighborhood, so even before they could narrate the joy of what they had been upto, a few ears are twisted red.

Today I am not sure if those initials still remain, or whether the stone will be there or had it been dislodged by some other kids who decided one day to conquer the hills.

That is having said enough.

N Finally... :o) (Rich)

Heyy! :o)
I'm Richa, for most bloggers - richunderconstruction, but react more instantly to the name Rich. (Tho you'll get an equally favorable acknowledgement to the word "rikshaw" as it sounds very similar ;o) )
I ve been on blogger since...Jan '06 and have been relatively active and definitely passive in spurts. I'm a fashion designer by degree and on a massive job HUNT. All the jobs around me seem to be unsuitable to my attributes or too good to apply to ;o) An avid reader, love music, sing for the high my voice gives me, addicted to coffee and chocolate and totally enthususiastic towards experimenting cocktails!

I am recognised easily by tags of confused, hardworking, moody and dependable. I can be extremely random and make perfect sense, yes, at the same time.

A total Libran by the standards of Linda Goodman, I define indecision. I stay balanced, that is to say, I live in extremes(of everything!) - talking, sleeping, eating and even work too hard, or exist in my world of lethargy... But I guess, thats the way my system functions! I'm generally determined, and stubborn when I don't agree. ;o)

I'm a harsh judge of myself, but can never see anyone else in black/white. I live in a world of coloured grey shades and can ALWAYS find a reason to justify peoples actions/reactions.
I think too much and breakdown easily. Too emotional or too withdrawn.
When I am myself, I am entirely myself. :o)

This image defines my strongest passion - Bombay :o)
Attraction or repulsion.
Poverty, slums, and smells.
Speed, lights and motion.
Silences in noise.
Noises in Silence.
Power of a place, defined by its people.
Into, an Existence or Life?

Ditzy Irreparable Curious Element = Dice

I always felt uncomfortable when seminars, classes or meetings started with:

“Alright first of all, we all should get to know each other. Introduce yourself and tell us something about yourself."

“Something” is always so vague. And on the same time that something has to be a little bit insightful but not too deep as we do not want to skitter into some sort of soul striptease.

I mean none of my fellow students/ colleagues/ humans could judge me of too revealing if I inform them that I like pistachio ice-cream. But that would sound weird, wouldn’t it? “Hello, my name is Dice and I like pistachio ice-cream.”

So you go with something safe like “Hello, my name is Dice, I moved from Germany to Hong Kong ca. 3 years ago. I'm a non-smoker.” Then I sit down, relieved that I did not misspeak and barely listen what the person next to me says about him-/herself.

As you can see I suck at introducing myself. So the next BUF topic “A picture to be posted by each member and explain why it is important to you” comes in handy. A picture says supposedly more than 1000 words. And maybe you, the sharp-witted bloggers that you are, can make out my character.

O.k., here's a picture of my husband, me and my sister, in which we are moderately gaga… which is actually a state we are unconsciously always in.

I feel most comfortable with people that like my sister or my husband do not take themselves too serious… and have gnomish laugh, are attracted to good food and tend to annoy their loved ones with tomfooleries. Hence in front of people like that I do not have to keep up the façade of being sensible, sane or sapient (And yes, I like alliterations. 100 points to the reader who concluded that.)

So, I guess this picture shows my comfort zone and my preference for cropped jackets. Yap … … … … well, I must go now. In my timezone it’s time for lunch. Actually, in my timezone it's always time for lunch. Hehe.

Here I am at last! (Nadya)

Ok ok, so I nearly did not make it to write a post on this blog, but life has been extra busy lately. Ok enough moaning and complaining.
My name is Nadya also known as Hsejjes meaning noises. Who knows me enough would say that this is an apt name for me as I am a very very noisy person. I come from this teeny eeny little island called Malta. If you had to look it up on the atlas you would probably mistake it for an irregular spot on the page. But if you look closer, you will see that we are actually there. We are pleasantly situated in the mediterranean sea, somewhere between Sicily and the north of Africa. We are surrounded by the sea, being an island of course, and I can assure you it is a country full of culture, beautiful scenery, and also beautiful gals and boys....but that is another argument....lol.
Ok to the subject of the week. Getting to spend a day with someone from between us friends. Actually I am going to cheat here, as I have already met the person whom I would like to spend the day with. That person is John, our very own between us friends administrator.
Now I encountered John quite by chance. Actually he left a comment on someone else's blogg, a fellow malteser, and I was curious enough to visit his blog. There I found out that Mr.J was actually going to move for a while to Malta, so that made me even more curious.
Over the months I have met Mr.J a couple of times, and he always struck me as a deep and conscientious person. So yes, a day with him would suit me nicely.
The itinery for spending the day with John would include the following: Taking him for a spin in my car, and if he survives that, I will then take him to the beach where a professional instructor will give him a few lessons on how to attack the mediterranean waves on a wind surf. After this strenous exercise, a nice meal would be in order. And as he has been to the most expensive restaurant on the island anyway, I will take him to our lovely fishing village in the south of the Island called Marsaxlokk where we woul indulge in a nice lunch of fresh fish in a restaurant called Rizzu. During all this, I would endeavour to make John appreciate more the beautiful aspects of Malta, make him understand more our culture and our way of doing things, and also maybe even order the Lord above to send snow in the winter, to make him happy to remain here. But seeing that that is quite impossible, I will have to settle to try and impress him with the simple things that this island possesses.
In between all this, John and I will engage in arguments and discussions that would cover all sorts of subjects, beginnning from his work, the kind of music he likes, his aspirations, his plans for the future, and also his family. I would like to get to know what makes John really and truly tick, and exist. What makes him happy, what is he looking for in life and why he has to travel the whole world to find it. I believe that John is on a journey, and one day, when he arrives at his destination, he will have gained great things. Once I even joked with him that in ten years time I will see his name quoted as shares on Wall Street, even making more of an impact then Nasdaq and Ftse. He laughed. But I still stand by what I said. Only time will tell.
After all this, I would then take John to my humble home, introduce him to my danish husband and my son. I do not know how he would react to my son, as John proclaims that he does not really enjoy children, but so what. That would be the only downside to his day with me....lol.That would be made up for by engaing in conversation with my husband whilst drinking beer and whisky together. This would mean that a good friendship could be forged on the grounds of the mutual liking of alcohol consumption
The night would proceed with a good home cooked meal of rabbit and potatoes, with crackers and cheese afterwards. Maltese bread of the crusty type would also be on the menu, and maltese wine would flow extensively
John would then have to endure another drive back home in my car, but he would probably be too drunk to be afraid.....
And that would end my perfect day with John. A man whom I am very proud to know, and to get to know better.
PS: that's me in the pic.please dont leave any comments on the wrinkles.......lol

It's ME (tulipspeaks)

The hardest post will be one about ourselves *grins.. May be I can start by thanking you guys for giving me an opportunity to join this wonderful circle of FRIENDS! cool stuff!!

About me.. I'm Ammu, all the way from Kuala Lumpur, the capital of beautiful Malaysia. Currently I am working as a researcher with a private university here. I've been blogging for little more than 2 years now, you may check my bloggie HERE ; watch out for posts on women, current issues and of course alots of junks there!

I'm a sensitive kinda person. Sometimes it works on my favour, sometimes it doesn't. Well.. life is not always rosy nah? I'm looking forward a brand new chapter in my life right now, complete with a postgrad qualification, new job, new friends, and who knows .. may be a new husband! Hehehehehe... but blogging is something I am not going to trade for anything in this world. Seriously.. I just love what I am doing right now.

Coming to the current topic... one person I really wanna spend a day with would be KESHI, and looks like I have to 'compete' with quite a number of fellow BUFs for that! Sex & Shah Rukh sells and now I think Keshi sells too! *get my helmet.. Kidding.. kidding.. A lovable person whom I never get tired of talking/writing about and of course e-mailing to! :) Guess others have said everything which I wanted to say about her. In short, she is a darling!

hello people! (Vishesh)

me on a horse...can't find anything better. I one who usually takes photos.Oh ya i love photography too :)

ha,at last got the invite.I just did a full football style celebration.
Ok, i am vishesh, Vishesh Unni.(I still am trying to figure out why my father had to add that Unni to my name.) I live in chennai. I am 15 years old.(though my friends call me a 5 million year old.)

I am a football freak, and a 100% arsenal fan.

I love writing poetry and my blog this is vishesh
is mostly about that or about (ahem) spirituality. I do not like rules and have a craze for turning (or) breaking it.I usually managed to get away from trouble in school, since i was(hopefully still am) in the "worst class".

I have more hobbies than i can remember, but blogging come up there with footie, violin, poetry and reading.

I started to blog about 10 months ago and thanks to the blogosphere english has improved like hell(before you start coming up with ideas of how bad i was take a look at this and my latest post.)

I let my personality be felt in the comment sections more than in my posts.

I am a very very emotional person.I have the habit of becoming emotionally very close to people and will get hurt very easily.a typical cancerian to say the least.

My music taste keeps varying according to my moods, which is as rest less as a electron.

well here ends the talk about me.I can keep lamenting on any topic for many a pluto year.

here's a comment chat btw. me and keshi on her post losing it.i am putting up all the comments which went past, hopeful it would serve as an insight(keshi hope you don't mind this):

me:
**I have lost faith in human beings due to some experiences in my life. Though the people involved are no longer in touch with me, the lasting effects can haunt me from time to time.

**I lost my sanity long time ago.

**I used to have a bad habit of going behind people to convince them and to make sure they are ok - people who really didn't care about my feelings at all.

it still goes on and on...people tell me i am a big bore and blade....no one understands that i follow them because i like them...it hurts...esp.when they have acted like they understand you...

**Used to own something called innocence and it was very very precious. I lost it as I grew up and the world isn't really a very pretty place. Happiness never lasts cos darkness comes to kick your ass. The only way you can survive is by being the happiness yourself.

learnt that the hard way....

..... i think there is a song called so much for my happy ending by avril...i used to like that donno why...

keshi:Vishesh u share alot of the losses with me.

I used to be like u...call even 200 times to make sure that other person is ok...but those ppl prolly laughed at me back then. Now I dun bother at all.

me:

lol :) do you believe in coincidence??

keshi: :) or it may be the Cancerian thingy.

me:i am finding more cancerians and people of my age now..then ever in my life....something crabby is up...

think there it ends.

sorry about that being so short, but couldn't find any other interesting thing...

i forgot to add i hate telling "I this.. and I that...." usually my intro will only be "i am vishesh" and nothing more.

ha,and found this photo, this too was taken a year back.I surely grown a lot taller now and a moush is almost there :)

vishesh
the light shines the brightest

this is burf

hi, i am burf

typically that would be all that would comprise of my introduction but a dear friend is watching my back with a whip in his pockets and request on his lips.

i guess i have already been introduced though... by ishita. thanks for the warm welcome people. i would be supporting all the lovely [girls] people here :D if in any case they are facing any blog related technical issues.

the old friend from over my shoulder is screaming hoarse that i should write about an ongoing topic, which i guess is "who would you want to go out with if you have to who is a member of BUF?" frankly speaking i don't know about much people so i would write the names of all [you all know who all] and put it in a bowl and pick one.

and yes, i would like to know the top 3 issues that you people face [if any, because john is surprisingly doing a better job at maintaining it] when you access BUF.

Elina AKA Thumbelina AKA Thumbee..

Hi everyone! I was browsing through one of my blog mate's blog & realised there is this wonderful blog she has joined. Being curious, i went into this blog & began reading the entries. It sure feels different here, until other blogs. Everyone is being themselves in this blog, no 2-headed snakes, no back-stabbers but only TRUE FRIENDS :)

Anyway, my name is Elina. I started to blog all of a sudden just last year, but my blog has more than 230 entries already :) Crazy blogger huh? I blog almost everyday unless i am sick or have no access to the computer. In my blog, i list down my daily life. All the yummy food i eat, all the wonderful places I've been, about my little cousin Shyen, all the photos i have taken......are all in my blog. Feel free to drop by my blog & remember to leave a "Friend Paw Print" in my Cbox to let me know u've been there ^o^

10 Things About me....

1. I love my boyfriend very very much! We have been together since 2000 until now :) Tat makes it almost 7 years! We have been through alot together & helped each other out through all the difficult times. We have broken up a couple of times before but still got together eventually. After all the ups & downs, our relationship has gotten much stronger than before. to make things even better, our anniversary, which was the first day we met, is on 24 Dec 2000! Christmas Eve... :)

2. I love my little cousin, Shyen, so much! She is very adorable & a very very quick learner too. Only 2 years old & she's full of tricks up her tiny sleeves until all of us can't stop laughing at the things she actually do. At first, all of us will be very mad at her but thinking back on wat she did, just brings in all the smiles & we'll also think back, where did she learn all those noti tricks from.. HaHa..

3. Weekends! I always look forward to weekends. Why? I finally get to spend quality time with my DearDear after our hectic working days from Mon - Fri. Even though sometimes he has to work on Saturdays, he would still bring me out to movies, shopping (window or real), have a nice meal outside.... :)

4. I hate my current job! anyway, i have already resigned and my last day would be the end of this month. I, being the only sole staff in the company, has to handle every single thing in the office. From reception to clerk, to operations, to warehousing, to admin, to accounts, to purchasing, to HR, to payroll! Even the pantry is 'dry', i gotta go & but the things all by myself. Excuse me.. I am a normal human being with only a pair of eyes, a pair of hands, a pair of legs, 1 nose, 1 mouth, a pair of ears & 1 BRAIN! I couldn't tolerate much longer due to added problems, tats why i tendered. My salary got delayed... My CPF hasn't been contributed into my account for months... **Sigh** now u know why i hate my job?

5. I love shopping! Be it window shopping or real shopping, i still love it loads! Window shopping - I get to compare & check out the new items & also the price... When it come to real shopping, then I'll know whether it is on "sale" or not. cos most of the times, it seems like the "Sale" is ongoing forever.. HaHa..

6. I love my family. Although we always bicker, think of each other as enemies, nag at one another... Family is Family. Nothing can change it, right? :) Blood is always thicker than water BUT........ There are also some things which one has to think over properly before doing it to prevent causing hurt to others even if its ur parents asking u to do it. Right?

7. I love music... I love to sing.. In secondary school, i was in the choir.. Without music, the whole place seems totally lifeless.. It becomes so quiet & it feels creepy... No matter where i am, there will always be music. Even when I'm cycling in the park or running on the tracks, I'll play songs from my HP to keep myself entertained. Now, as i am writing this blog, I'm listening to a song too.. Title: Reflection - Christina Aguilera

8. I hate back-stabbers. Esp when you really treat them as a true good friend from the bottom of ur heart & they come to back you from behind. It hurts really bad.

9. I tend to fall sick quiet easily. I also dunno how come. I often get migraines, gastric & diarrhoea.. Even now as I'm typing this entry, I'm actually on MC.. Yesterday i had a pretty high fever, almost 40 Degrees Celsius. Sickly girl huh?

10. I'm sort of a introvert. I tend to keep things to myself & not share them with others. I will only open up to a handful of ppl whom i can trust. I love to help ppl & sometimes duno how to reject ppl...

Tats all about me, i guess..

See ya around!

LO! (Abhishek)

"..Silently, ..he, would enter the party. Little smile at the corners( lips), twinkle in the eyes.
"hello"- you say.. "hello" .. he would say and smile!

Would listen, absorb, quip-in once or so! thats it!

After the next few times, just around the time you are concluding he is Those SHY types, you will be awed to see him in the centre of this group and making everyone laugh their brains out!

Yes, That was ME , a few years ago! and that HE, wakes up pretty often.
( Usually now, I move to the second phase more quickly..
:D
:D
)

Better know to a few in Blog-sphere since 2005 as AlterinG Abhishek. From what started as forced blogger registeration on Xanga to comment on a blog, has now become a very interesting expression, in the form of a foto blog, a One Liner Repositary and My life's Interesting Phases

Brought up in the City Beautiful of Chandigarh, I am an electronics engineer and have been wrinkling my nose that I have become 27 as of last month!

After working in Delhi for two years, and having travelled to Singapore, hyd, blr, chennai, jaipur, orissa, gujarat and likes.. I have found how much I just love travelling.

moved to mumbai now since last two year( yeah AFter delhi), I fear, that despite not liking the City in parts, I am becoming Mumbaiya and maybe starting to like it ( in the balance parts)

PunjabBBi By NatuRe, and I just love to break into Gurmukhi ( punjabi).. unluckily that is not usually possible here in Mumbai!!!!

( as latest as i could get)

During my (un)usual Philosophical bouts, I firmly believe, it takes MORE than a lifetime to know a (ever-evolving) person!

And you expect me to tell you about myself in a post!!
(smiles)

Introduction to Miss Obnoxious(Michelle)

I stumbled upon Betweenusfriends and I thought it was a wonderful idea and I got to hand it to everyone that has played a role in keeping it so systematic!

I started blogging two years ago and its really amusing to read all my posts from the time I began to now...part of me feels so great to read certain things and another part really makes me want to guffaw about how silly I used to be.

Anyway, I'm 17 years old and I'm currently on vacation(Whoop pee da dee doo) awaiting my 12th results :-S.

Well, I could go on and on AND ON but i guess the topic will pretty much say it all about me

10 Things About Moi(it would cause you to call a fire brigade if I could cook)

1.I am quite the extrovert(or so I think) but yes I love being around people.I love talking to different people and I love meeting new people(provided they aren't crazy psychopaths that would want me to join some cult and then eventually kill me)

2.I love languages.I'm quite fluent in french and am currently learning Japanese, which I must say is my weekend treat(seriously).

3.I always end up being the ''teacher's pet''(not the annoying know-it-all type though)...which is why people tend to hate me during classes.*Evil laugh*

4.I am so punctual its not funny.I will be there before time but I will never be late for any kind of rendezvous or class or gym or even a lecture(yes, I need therapy)

5.I am a total fitness freak(wow, I'm the extremes of everything :P).I love gymming and I am super weight conscious which is why I hate people with a high metabolic rate.I ate only celery for a whole week to lose my last kilo :P

6.I live for music.Name a song, I've heard it(including russian, japanese and french)

7.I love adventure but I like my life/routine to be predictable at the same time.

8.I love to write. The way I write always depends on my mood though(currently-sarcastic)

9.I love experimenting-be it food(sigh...), music or clothes...One day you'll find me dressed all retro and next minute I'm feeling boho!

10.I love talking.I might be shy at first but once you know me really well, its jabber jabber jabber :P

So, enough about me...how you doin'? ;-)
