(abhishek) Part VI

Rubbing his eyes, as he awoke, realising he is on a stretcher inside a moving abulance; he saw he was alone, un-attended.

He rose to check, if he was off his hallucinations and was happy to see a driver, who told him, he is waking up from a snake bite medication.

On the humble request, when he was dropped back at the "Rajiv Chowk" Metro station subway; he recalled the hustle and remembered about his flight to New York for his new assignment.

He started recalling, how, he had downed too many tequila shots; thinking how he will be able to forget the so many wrongs that happened in the last three months, including Marieka.

It was all because of that sick job, his devil boss had raped away his talent; which ended affecting everyone in his life.

The cell phone vibrated in his blue jean pocket, " Sir , I have am outside your house with the travellers cheques"
..........

India's Independence / Updates ( abhishek)

Along with rejoicing in the celebration of 60 years of Independence, lets us also try and ask ourselves "What does Independece mean to us all?"

AS none of BUFer's are 60 years or older, our perceptions of Freedom and Independence wuould /should have changed over time

Here are a few voices:

Mala thinks:
"
freedom is breaking rules but not law.
freedom is choosing and being chosen.

freedom is allowance for learning from mistakes.
"

Our Dear Vishesh:

"freedom-
the need to be free
and yet be a part of-we.
as young as the earth
and so much worth,
it in our nation
the divine creation.
"

Keshi:
"
**Being who I am wherever I may be - INDIVIDUALITY**
Tolerating all kinds of people - TOLERANCE**
Realising the strengths and weaknesses of self - ACCEPTANCE**
Spreading love and living in it - LOVE**
Breaking all barriers to achieve togetherness - UNITY**
Living in openness of the mind - PEACE**
"
SAM:

"
1. be able to walk around the city without worrying abt who's gonna come up and do some moral policing on me!!
2. behave in a manner befitting a free man.
3. respect an individual no matter what... and to honour ppl for what they truly are!!
4. do what i want (honest stuff mate!!) without a fear of teh repurcussions.
5. be a responsible citizen and no matter what you do, try and give back soemthing to the country you belong to!!
"

Aakash:
"
Freedom...

Freedom to be,

to be you,to be me.

Freedom to say,

things i want,my way.

Freedom to go,

take roads that no-one knows.

Freedom to give flight

to ideas I believe.

Freedom to choose,

netas for power to abuse.

Freedom to me
is freedom to be -- free.

Jai Hind!"

Ishita: ( who has expressed the desire to use her freedom to pull some rules ;), to overshoot the limit)

"
"It’s Independence Day! Just another much needed holiday for many I know. It’s not often that we stop to really think about the importance of such days. I’m not here to talk about how we don’t value our freedom and the struggle to gain this freedom. That’s not true because we do! We’re not ignorant of our history and we’re not all always cynical about the state of affairs in our country (or for that matter the world at large). I think days like Independence Day and Republic Day here in India and similar days like these in other countries are special because in the midst of all our “living” and “existing” through our daily routine and mundane lives, we take time out to remember, appreciate and feel that sense of patriotism which in our otherwise regular lives, we just don’t really think about, do we? I feel a great sense of pride whenever I see the tricolour being hoisted and hear the national anthem. And I remember being in Chicago on 4th of July watching the fireworks display on Lake Michigan and I got to sense the same pride amongst the Americans. It’s there in all of us irrespective of who we are and where we belong!"

Tell US what you think in the comments!!

First Crush (Abhishek)

I vividly recall,the classroom.

If you were standing at the entrance of the class, you would see... the teachers desk in front of the blackboard ( which was on the right side perpendicular to the wall containing the door)

Starting on the left side of the door, were these three rows of two seater desks and benches, all facing the teachers table with the blackboard behind it.
The last row opposite the entrance door was along the windows.

That after-noon, the orange curtains were drawn to prevent the strong summer sun to enter.
I was sitting on the 1st bench with NJ, Cute round face, bright eyes, slightly big nose, 100 watt smile.

I was in the fifth standard (Class V-B). The three sections of A,B,C had just been shuffled and the current class was a new mix in the new session.

I had fallen for.

That summer afternoon, when the school got over, she forgot her Hanky inside the desk
(yeah typical movie style, I cant stop smirking whenever i recall).

In the brouhaha after the final bell, I called her with one hand in the air, "N!!, Tumahara hanky reh gaya" (N!!, you left you hanky)
She came back took it from me , blushed, turned and ran away to the door.

Over the next two years we would usually be around.
I would just sheepishly keep looking at her.

When we were in 7th class, Me the great, with super-duper encouragements ( Read being pumped) from friends and my brother, mustered the courage on 14th Feb.

Its only a card abhi, they all give to each other, it does not mean any big thing.. go go go.!

Yeah, and the red-faced me, did it.( I just cant stop smiling, even while typing this.what a fool i was, 12 year old yaar, imagine...)

Poor NJ was more baffled as to what hit her. She reluctantly took the card.
...... But after two days, and she was very very sad, and in near tears she returned it.
:(

Understandably, there was a misunderstanding!! Of what the card was meant to be.

We never talked after that, the way we used to....
Till we all parted ways after tenth standard( as our school was only till tenth standard)

I had the card with me till a long time later.

Six years after this incidence, when I was in college in another state in india, someone mentions about a certain bright looking girl called NJ in another class!!

And one of my dear friends wants to hit on her.
Yes, can you believe it she was here (again)

After two years of just hellos and Hi's, we chatted up one day outside the library and laughed and laughed at the past.

She left college abruptly as her familiy moved to USA.
We are still in touch.....
I tore the card later....

Turn( abhishek)

The Buzz of the Phone Shook her out of her thoughts and coffee.

It was his number.

She quivered. ( was it excitement?).. She answered

Mumbled a hello.

"Hello, Daniella..."

(It was a female voice)

Female VOICE!!, she wondered, how could it be a female voice.....

"I am Michelle "( sounded sweet and cheerful)

umm OK..,

" You see Daniella, you dont knwo me, but...."

Ting!!

and Phone blanked out.

Damn this phone battery!!!!

Thumping the half left coffe on the table, she ran to the charger

Her mind running much faster... He never even mentioned..... who .....

Beep! ( the charger plugged in the the welcome ring hummed)

Before she dailed back again, and sms beeped in..

" Sorry I am in a moving car and the network keeps skipping, I am in your area, lets meet for coffee at Barista near the 7th Street"

..........

( Have changed back to original Third person narration...)

Mumbai Dhamaal (messy and abhishek)

(ring ring).. Hello
"I am at shoppers stop, where are you"
1st floor, lets see who finds whom!- Said Messy

I was a little apprehensive, Three Bufers to meet!! dear Rich couldnt make it due to "not well Flag"!!

Coming out of the lift, I passed "the pair" in Green and Brown! She seemed like Messy, I smiled, lightly, She did not quite respond and I moved on the floor to check out some stuff. But then turned back coz I knew they were around.

Ha Ha.
We all met with a "HALO" wali hello.
As I was new, and the lovely ladies had known each other for , there was some ice that needed to be broken.( which was taken care by the sound of my groaning stomach) and I declared that I am very Hungry and needed to eat , Just about anything.

Ghoom fir ke we reached Bombay Blues

The Huge stylish glass of Iced tea ordered by Messy made my Pizza look a little small!Slowly we moved from quizzes on paper to Wishes by Genies and we were all laughing to glory.Mala, though had decided to get her Nirvana now finally ( though for a short time only), could not help dig into some pizza. She exclaimed, that her wants seem to have been fulfilled. Its a different matter that SOME Long Lost Chicken Sandwich kept haunting her!! After stomachs( partially full) we decided that we needed to decide where to go next.Juhu being Messy's illakka, we handed the reins to her ( actually the command to the auto-wallah).The weather so mare than amazing. All you need to imagine is just dark grey cloudy skies with super cool breeze, and LO we reached a surprise corner of Juhu Beach. The water was so clear that.. err..umm well it was basically very clear..The Thrill of having discovered a long lost Lounge soon went phut, when we were kindly informed us that there was a"Private party" going on. We reached the SEE-Sea-D ( CCD) opposite the Beach, only to discover that the place was surprisingly "VEG only" and we were not quite impressed with the LYCHEE juice it was serving!!We moved on, with a plan to decide on the way. :))then we headed to have the Famous ILRA's Pani Puri ( Gol-Gappas, for the un-initiated)MalaJEE's blisters did not come between her and the GOL_GAPPAS!!After our dose of Vitamin "C"( We were doing CEE CEE after the CHilli Pani-Puri's).. we decided so to check out this BIG Mind Blowing ART Gallary!! Well the painting cant be descibed with words here, so I will not attempt!! We laughed so much that the clouds had to compensate and started pouring just wettiing us a little bit before we reached Barista.....

(contd by messy)

whew!! before i start with what happened next let me describe a few things abhi missed....

when abhi crossed my path at shoppers stop i was busy talking to mala and we were giggling over something silly... and then this guy (with awesome dimples) gives us an apprehensive smile... by the time i could make out it was abhi and smile he had moved away from us... now guys u cant blame me... i thought he was taller than what he really is!

and i understand his terrified smile too... i had told him whenever we meet someone new, we rag them left, right and centre... so i guess he was terrified of meeting us... luckily for him utsy wasnt around... or we would have really messed up with him :p (lucky chap) [Abhi: Hee Hee]

when we went to bombay blues abhi got the idea of asking us 3 wishes which we would like to have in life... mala ofcouse wanted things related to nirvana.. when abhi and mala started debating about what nirvana really meant... mala said eating food at that moment was nirvana for her and started chomping on her pizza! nirvana for sure !!!
[Abhi: MalaJEE wanted to have the weather in her total control, anytime and everytime among others, and Messy is going for this world exploration tour, amd me apart from going back-packing to Europe am Going to DISCOVER SOMETHING!! :D , :D ]

while in the auto, when we were going to the beach we thought we would get into the kiddy mode... we started playing a game! yeahhh comeon dont give us weird looks... it was so much fun... we played the name game... kind of antakshari with a difference... and abhi tried to catch us with the letter 'a' and we would try searching for names with that alphabet! ohhh abhi we werent so bad right??? [Abhi: not at all yaar, infact I was stuck with some "H" or something.. but you were two yaar...]

at the beach we thought we would get in some pic for the benefit of the bufers... chk out my pic with mala... isnt it sweet?...

(psst... most of the pics were deleted as they came out so bad that we couldnt stop laughing :p)

ccd opposite juhu was really boring... not for me... as im a vegetarian... but mala was stuck up on eating a chicken roll.[Abhi: Sandwich sandwich!!] .. n the place didnt serve non vegetarian food... so we decided to skip ccd n move on to barista...

on the way to barista mala and abhi were discussing pani puri and how mumbai never served the kind they got in delhi... i told them i would take them to a joint that atleast served some good pani puri... (ufff still i guess no comparison to delhi pani puri... mala couldnt bear the hot chilli paani because of her blistered mouth!... abhi and i enjoyed it a lot)
[Abhi: but the suji wala Gol-Gappaz are also too good!!]

we decided to walk up to barista... and on the way there was this seedy shop[Abhi: WHAT!!it was a ART Gallery... what seedy .. ;)....] that had some paintings.. and we decided to explore it just for the fun of it... by the time we planned to leave it was raining a lot... so we picked up an auto again to barista...

now we had a surprise for mala... since it is her birthday today we decided to celebrate in advance... i had got a cake for her and had carried it with me all day... the minute i got it out mala says, "nooooooo please dont sing."... now for those who dont know our mumbai gang much... this all started with how we celebrated z000nies birthday before he left for manchester... we were at a pizza hut and the minute the cake was out the guys there started singing at the top of their voices and got the whole place down.. it was really embarassing! thats y the reaction from her...

i promised her we wouldnt get into much 'halla gulla'... and we had a silent cake cutting ceremony... ofcourse we missed all of u! the cake was yummy and we ate almost half of it between the three of us :p...

[Abhi: Hello, what about the babe, who was sitting behind Mala, with the sardarjee, who could not stop winking at me.. :P]

we had some more pics clicked just for ur benefit... do check out our drinks... and decide which one u would like to have... (psst... i had the green mint one and it was awesome :D)

in a while it started pouring... and we decided to leave.. it was 8.30! almost 4.5 hrs together! just the 3 of us! and we didnt realize how the time had passed... we left barista and abhi n mala tried getting an auto... i said i would walk home as i lived just a few blocks away... so it was time to say bye as i started wading through the ankle deep water to go home... i nearly got drenched by the time i reached home, wondering if abhi and mala had got an auto to go home....

thats it about our meet in mumbai... i hope this post isnt not tooooooo long... all in all it was a fun meet... we really missed richa who couldnt make it at the last minute... utsy who was having fun in delhi... and harjee, loongal and sam too... i wish someday we all get together... we would need a whole day to catch up... 4 hours is too less!!

happy birthday mala... we decided to skip ur part of the meet as we wanted to surprise u with the pics and the post on ur birthday today... hugssssssss girl... have a lovely day and a fabulous year ahead...
wishing rajbir a very happy birthday too... i wish u were here too we would have had a double celebration... ! (now u know what we did there rajbir)...

bbye laterzzz

Childhood!( Abhishek)

Two in one..
What and how is 2-in-1.
The post is, It covers both the topics.

It covers, both My favourite Childhood memories and my best friends.

We used to have this tradition, all thru the years we have grown .. Summer holidays would mean the great dhamal and get together with all maternal aunts and cousins in delhi @ Nani'z ( maternal Granma and Granpa)
and every Diwali would be the great dhamal get-to with all paternal uncles and cousins @ Biji -Papaji ( Paternale Granparents)

( yes I do not have Maternal uncles and Paternal Aunts..)
So favourate memories have been way too many.
With more than one pair of twins in the famili, ( my mom and my Maternal aunt , and my cousins from my paternal uncles side) the fun was always a little more

You can imagine Six kids with a 2 odd years progressive age difference, no one could stop us from jumping on beds ( all together) and yelling, to Throwing water at each other in the verandas in the great Delhi Summers till all water gets over..

TO the amazing walks in the night with Nana treating all kids to ICE Cream!!( I miss my Nana big time, the amazing person he was, he could make the dullest statement into the biggest joke of the world)
He has made all laugh so so much!

And the Diwali's used to be a "BLAST" in a big way. We used to get the Huge Basket fulls of crackers and, the night used to fall short to blow all of them, till our folks would yell.."Goto sleep.. otherwise...."

And my best friends are all the members of our famili!!
I have ADORABLE sisters ( you can spot four in the pic )
amazing brothers, and my uncles and aunts are way tooo cool.!! It is usually difficult for my friends to absorb the kind of amazing understanding we all share with each other.

NOt to unmention a Special palce for my mom, dad and bro !! ( yeah now sister -in-law too) Bhabi
( touch wood)

Task for Amy/John/Wacko...... You have to locate more than one person you know in this pic?( Pssst dont comment, just tell me yes or no)

LO! (Abhishek)

"..Silently, ..he, would enter the party. Little smile at the corners( lips), twinkle in the eyes.
"hello"- you say.. "hello" .. he would say and smile!

Would listen, absorb, quip-in once or so! thats it!

After the next few times, just around the time you are concluding he is Those SHY types, you will be awed to see him in the centre of this group and making everyone laugh their brains out!

Yes, That was ME , a few years ago! and that HE, wakes up pretty often.
( Usually now, I move to the second phase more quickly..

)

Better know to a few in Blog-sphere since 2005 as AlterinG Abhishek. From what started as forced blogger registeration on Xanga to comment on a blog, has now become a very interesting expression, in the form of a foto blog, a One Liner Repositary and My life's Interesting Phases

Brought up in the City Beautiful of Chandigarh, I am an electronics engineer and have been wrinkling my nose that I have become 27 as of last month!

After working in Delhi for two years, and having travelled to Singapore, hyd, blr, chennai, jaipur, orissa, gujarat and likes.. I have found how much I just love travelling.

moved to mumbai now since last two year( yeah AFter delhi), I fear, that despite not liking the City in parts, I am becoming Mumbaiya and maybe starting to like it ( in the balance parts)

PunjabBBi By NatuRe, and I just love to break into Gurmukhi ( punjabi).. unluckily that is not usually possible here in Mumbai!!!!

( as latest as i could get)

During my (un)usual Philosophical bouts, I firmly believe, it takes MORE than a lifetime to know a (ever-evolving) person!

And you expect me to tell you about myself in a post!!
(smiles)

अछा अब बहुत हुआ !!

I am rarely as patient as this.. and IF I were to hear all of this in a conversation, after the first few lines, I would have..."चल यार बाक़ी बाद में , अभी चलते है , कुछ खाते है !!"

and खाने से I recall that i gotta give a 10 things about me or a recipe!!

Considering की no-one has posted andthing मीठा ॥
