I hope it snows here... (Sudeep)

Seriously I would be happy if we had snow in Pune. It is getting a bit cold but snow has its own charm. Might be the reason Santa doesn't come here is the lack of snow on the pot-holed roads :(. I don't have a lot of time to type something new so sharing a link of an old Christmas post. Sorry and hope you guys forgive me in the spirit of Christmas :D. Colour not color pls :D... (Sudeep)

She: Tell me which colour suits me the best?

Me: Baby didn’t you know that I am colour blind?

Can’t help, but the first thing that strikes my mind is colour blind. Sometimes it is good to be a colour blind in situations where some random answer might start an altercation :D. The next thing that the word colour reminds me is the festival of myriad colours – Holi. Splashing buckets of coloured water, hitting water balloons and smearing fistfuls of colours on faces of friends (and sometimes on unwary strangers), roaming around the city on bikes with a horde of friends in the multi-coloured attire will always be fun for me at least. Dream Girl! - Sudeep

I already had listed down 6 points on Miss Right earlier on my blog here so adding to that list the following points:

1. Should have a high libido: Going by the posts of females I can infer is that they need a passionate lover. Guys can understand only one interpretation of passionate so I am not wrong in demanding this eh?
*tries to avoid the things being hurled at*

2. Should be a live calendar reminding me all important dates including her own birth date etc. Immediate relatives of her having Archies/Hallmark franchise would be given priority and throwing surprise parties would accrue emotional benefits.
BOINK!! *damn who was that*

On a serious note, she should be individualistic and the one with whom I can talk to on any topic; she could be a home maker but not a dull house wife; financially independent and since I would respect her for what she is I would expect the same from her.

Leaving aside the points I would like to quote a few lines Sean, one of my good blog buddies, had written earlier which perfectly echo my idea..

When I think of a girl that I think is pretty close to perfect, I don't look at one or two or six things. She's the whole package. Maybe I could list things that I would look for in the "ideal" woman, but there is no such thing. The perfect woman isn't a collection of traits. She's just who she is. The perfect woman is someone who makes it impossible for you to stop thinking about her. My perfect woman may seem average to someone else. But there is something about her that makes her special to me, and that's what makes her perfect.

So with whom you end up might be destiny but to make a relationship work and bestowing your spouse the title of Mr/Ms Right is definitely in your hands. Have a nice weekend everybody..

Right gift for best Miss - Sudeep

I simply adore Calvin & Hobbes so the best gift i have received are these 2 C&H books last December on my b'day. I won't write much on this but will leisurely take the pleasure of seeing you jealous looking at the pics below :p.

Being forced by Y & I (yeah you can consider them as cartoon characters as well like C&H :D) I might come back for Miss Right as well. It is just that 'the days are just packed' :). Take care of yourself and the blog as well.

I was eagerly waiting for my google reader to show a spoof from Z00nie but alas it is the last day for this topic and Z00nie baba is still at large. The post below is not my ‘favourite’ post but I had tried to write something different from what I usually write so it is one post which I remember well. Plus yesterday’s win over South Africa is a reason I convinced myself to post this after dropping the idea last week. But, one of my favourite posts would be this tag since some of you know how I ‘love’ to do tags :D. Yeah I can see some smiling faces already over that line.. he he he. But I had really given a thought over this for a long time so..

Sunday was overall a gr8 day for sports lovers. Aust-SA cricket one-day match, F1 season’s first race, Arsenal-Liverpool showdown n India-England Test match… one should have a TV showroom to see all this at one time. Doordarshan (DD), our government channel proved once again tht it is very pathetic to watch. Has anyone watched ‘Aankhein’ on DD? Might be more bashing on this some other day. But, when it comes to showing highlights DD does not know the difference between highlights and live match. TV audience want to see how wickets fell and how the batsmen blasted the bowlers. They don’t expect to see how a captain sets his field and how a batsman waits for the 12th man to bring him a spare pair of gloves.

Rahul Dravid (India’s captain) is setting the field according to bowler Irfan Pathan’s need. DD zooms in the camera on both of them get close to decide on whom to set on which position. The conversation caught is courtesy lip-reading skills…

IP: It is hot today.

RD: (eyeing suspiciously) Were u watching Brokeback Mountain last night in the hotel when rest of us were busy watching dancers in the strip-club?

IP: Stupid! I am talking about the atmosphere. I was practising on bowling last nite. Wht ‘bout the fielding strategy?

RD: I don’t think we will need it. Look at both the batsmen. They are not gonna keep their eyes on the ball u bowl.

IP: Wht makes u think like tht?

RD: The batsmen r staring at our wicketkeeper Dhoni. They think tht we have a gal as wicketkeeper. Long hair is definitely beneficial to the team.

IP: (sad smile) Yeah! Girls r going crazy ‘bout his locks. I seem to have lost the title of Most Eligible Bachelor to him. U know after the incident of the 2 gals who had come to my house for marrying me, no one has yet knocked my door. Even the count of fan mails has fallen down. Parthiv (ex-wicketkeeper) was better. He used to carry our entire luggage and we even used to hit him in frustration when we used to lose a match.

RD: I m still wondering why the gals who had come to ur house did not …

IP: (cuts him off) Are Harbhajan and Laxman again fighting?

RD: Where? I can’t see them. My eye-sight is getting weaker day by day. I had told my parents tht I wanted to marry an ophthalmologist but they forced me to marry a General Practitioner.

IP: (points in tht dirn) There… they r fighting ever since tht Ganguly issue raked up.

RD: Hmmm… Greg (coach) is a dumbo. Ganguly is earning so much through advertisements and might feature in some movies also. Yet Greg said tht Ganguly wanted to remain captain for financial reasons.

IP: I am wondering wht will happen of all the established players if Greg keeps on experimenting the team n bringing in new faces.

RD: Thts why I have started to play fast nowadays. Wasim Jaffer plays even slower than me. When I play along with Wasim, I feel like I m Dhoni blasting the bowlers at the rate of 2 runs per over. Time to re-read Who Moved My Cheese?

IP: Hmmm… U know why I didn’t come to the strip-club yesterday. I was busy teaching ‘Bhangra’ to Greg. He said he didn’t look gud in the news channels last time doing the bhangra jig.

RD: But wht has to do with ur bowling?

IP: Not with bowling but it has to do with my place in the team. Munaf Patel also bowls pretty well.

RD: Ohh!! I forgot tht newbie.

IP: Shall we send Kumble near the boundary line?

RD: Yeah.. we will give him rest till he retires.

IP: I think he will quit now after reaching the 500 wickets landmark.

RD: Why are the batsmen not asking for bad light? I want to finish off this soon n want to catch with the next episode of Takeshi’s Castle on POGO.

IP: But, it is shown again at 11 in the night.

RD: But at tht time I have to see Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii. I luuvvv Ekta Kapoor’s soaps.

Irfan faints on hearing this n DD takes a commercial break reminding us tht it is time to switch channels.

Kanda-Pohe & Engagements (Sudeep)

In Maharashtrian families generally when a boy goes to a girl’s house or vice-versa with a marriage proposal (yeah if you are into arranged marriages) the simplest food item prepared is kanda-pohe (literally onion-flattened rice flakes). I am trying to improve my cooking skills which were sadly limited to making tea/coffee and Maggi noodles (and an occasional pizza) so I learnt this simple and tasty dish some 2-3 weeks ago and have been preparing and eating this quite often as mom has gone out of town. So now having a command on preparing kanda-pohe I can start inviting girls over.. err I mean share the recipe with you ;). I have not put in the measurements coz really I don’t know the measurements of each ingredient. I just go on adding them till I smell, see or feel from heart that this is ok.. he he.

Ingredients: (Preparation might be for one person)
Medium sized onion – finely chopped
Poha – soaked
Small potato – minced
Oil
Mustard seeds, Cumin seeds, Turmeric powder, Salt & Curry leaves
Coriander leaves – garnishing

Curd (optional)

Put a small amount of oil into a kadai (wok) and let it heat for a while. I guess you know that the oil won’t get hot in the kadai by itself so you got to use it on a kitchen stove :P (I am not sure about making it in microwave). Once the oil gets heated put in the mustard seeds, cumin seeds, curry leaves, chopped onion and minced potato (this is generally not used but is my favourite) and stir until the onions are reddish-brown. Till that time the dry poha flakes should be soaked. Soaked term here is that you wet it well and drain off the water and not keep it soaked in water. Sprinkle turmeric powder on the poha and pour this in the kadai. Stir well after putting in salt (swadanusar :D) and let it cook for 5-6 minutes. Garnish it with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot with curd on it.

This is not my favourite recipe but the only one I know so it can be considered valid for the topic :). Today I learnt preparing aamras (if Keshi remembers I had promised to treat her this) so a few experiments on it and I might add another feather to my cap.. well dish to my list at least.

Mr. Late Latiif.. nowadays? (Sudeep)

I know Ishita will agree with the title but it is not that I am always running late and though I love running and don’t mind being late, it was my reluctance to join in coz Ishita told me the names of people (in this grp) I had never/rarely heard of so I was like how it will be Betn Frndz?. Later I came to know that Zoonie baba, Yashita, Keshi, Kathy, Puneet, Suchi were already here along with Ishita and Rajiv.. so thinking that I already know almost everybody here and just a few unfamiliar faces/voices here I am. I am not at all averse to meeting new people but surely take my own time to call someone a friend.. until then all are just acquaintances. So all those who don’t know me yet, please don’t feel bad coz you are the only fortunate ones over here.. but just till date. MUAHAHAHA!!!

To start off with I am a mechanical engg. graduate working in an IT company (actually we don’t have anything to do with IT yet we call it IT.. gr8 aren’t we?) where except google and wikipedia nothing is accessible on the net. So my regular blog has now become regularly irregular. I don’t know if I should be ashamed/amazed that instead of telling you about me I started talking about my work place coz this is the place where I spend 12-13 hours of my day (working *ahem*). I write my posts in office during my breaks, mail it to my gmail id and post it later from home (thanks for the compliment you just gave me though a standing ovation would have been better.. chalo next time). I am a huge fan of Calvin & Hobbes (Yashita stop your giggling! :P) and I make it a point that every post of mine has a related strip of C&H; but that will be only for my space and not here. Also I am an avid fan of collecting gorgeous beauties to adorn my desktop (Zoonie stop drooling :D). I don’t call myself a bookworm but I do read a bit and love going through Greek and Roman mythology. For virtual friends I am a nice guy but not all my real life friends agree to it and I agree with them (but you can stick to the former notion :D). Sports is one of my passions and I feel sad to confess that I can’t play cricket :(. I guess this much is enough for the first post and we will get to know more about each other as time passes by. So thanks to Ishita for inviting *cough* threatening *cough* me to come over here; looking forward to have a great time here with each and everyone.
