Movie Review: Slumdog Millionaire

How many times has it been that you've day-dreamed of being a millionaire?

How many times has it been that you've felt things happen because that's how they are supposed to happen in our lives?

How many times has it been that you've felt that things happened around through a stroke of luck?

"Slumdog Millionaire" is one such story. It is the story of how an impoverished Indian teen Jamal Malik became a contestant on the Hindi version of "Who Wants to be A Millionaire?" -- an endeavor made without prize money in mind, rather, an effort to prove his love for his friend Latika, who is an ardent fan of the show.

The beautiful, and at times horrible, twists and turns of Jamal's life which brought him to the hot seat and which inexplicably also helps him win the prize money and find Latika for good, would surely leave bound to your seat for the two hours.

A well paced movie with no meaningless time squandering around that is sometimes on view in movies which have the most innovative of concepts.

Give it a watch. It should be on your list for 2009.

  1. Happy New Year Sam!

Gotta cacth that movie then ha? :)

  2. superb story, superb direction, superb screen play, superb editing, superb cinematopgraphy, Indian actors and cherry on the top, Rehaman's music. Dont miss it. 'must see' movie. very much impressed. reminds me meera nair's salaam bombay.

  4. Happy New year to u..
Slumdog millionaire is a top class movie.. must watch..

  5. Nice review! I happened to watch the movie and i must say it touches the deepest abyss of poverty in India. Truly an amazing flick! Am glad that it won golden globe

  6. Hey Sam, Happy New Year!
I have really looking forward to watching this one and I don't quite agree with certain critics putting the movie down fr representing india as a third world country...while it indeed is not a third world country, it has just focused on a certain side of india which includes poverty...don't all countries have tht side to it? why r they making such a huge deal about it?

  7. I watched this movie recently
I loved the movie for its novelity in the concept and for the harsh truth it depicted

i was astonished to see a paraallel world of slums in a charming city like mumbai

  8. I just saw this movie. N plzzz not a pirated copy.
This movie a must-needed movie for Indian Audiences....truely an excellant piece of work.
Perfect selection of artists even the child artists. Music is subtle yet pumping. Rehman is the only Gud Musician we hv i guess. Story is too gud, n directed flawlessly by Danny us a reality check.

Do Watch It. Though i dont hv to tell it cos m sure there are still ppl in this world who likes spending money on movies like this.
